چکیده

Abstract Vibrio alginolyticus and Streptococcus agalactiae are important bacterial pathogens that yielded high losses in Nile tilapia Egypt. The present study aimed to check the protective efficacy of inactivated whole-cell bivalent vaccines against these using incomplete Freund’s adjuvant Montanide™ IMS 1312 VG as adjuvants. antibody titers have been determined at different weeks post-vaccination (WPV). Moreover, protection levels challenged also examined relation time-dependent WPV. results revealed serum antibodies were generated all immunized fish 1st WPV, peaked 4th continued, gradually decreased from 6th WPV 14th vaccinated groups. In addition, induced significantly higher tilapia, manifested by survival rates. We noticed rates a vaccine adjuvanted than those produced time points. no external clinical signs, visceral adhesions, or internal lesions recorded demonstrating safety formulated vaccines. According aforementioned findings, we could suggest prepared vaccines, two types, safe highly be utilized promising candidate increase resistance V. S. infections. enhanced immuno-protectivity exhibited optimum immune response earlier compared adjuvant, its added value during preparation

Human Streptococcus agalactiae Isolate in Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

Streptococcus agalactiae, the Lancefield group B streptococcus (GBS) long recognized as a mammalian pathogen, is an emerging concern with regard to fish. We show that a GBS serotype Ia multilocus sequence type ST-7 isolate from a clinical case of human neonatal meningitis caused disease and death in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).

Passive immunization of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) provides significant protection against Streptococcus agalactiae.

A study was conducted to determine the role of specific antibodies in immunity to Streptococcus agalactiae. Adult Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) were injected i.p. with tryptic soy broth as control or with S. agalactiae vaccine. Ninety days later, fish were challenged with 1.5x10(4)CFUS. agalactiae fish(-1). Blood was drawn from all fish 90d after vaccination and 25d after challenge, and ...

An Overview of Vaccination Strategies and Antigen Delivery Systems for Streptococcus agalactiae Vaccines in Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

Streptococcus agalactiae is an emerging infectious disease adversely affecting Nile tilapia (Niloticus oreochromis) production in aquaculture. Research carried out in the last decade has focused on developing protective vaccines using different strategies, although no review has been carried out to evaluate the efficacy of these strategies. The purpose of this review is to provide a synopsis of...

Vibrio alginolyticus infections in humans.

Two clinical isolates of Vibrio alginolyticus from New Jersey are reported, one from a mixed stump infection and the other grown in pure culture from the conjunctival discharge of a man with conjunctivitis. The biochemical characteristics and antibiotic susceptibilities of these two isolates are presented. Human infections caused by V. alginolyticus are reviewed.
